Working at the Lake School

The Lake School adds to our teaching team as needed and we welcome applicants who have a passion for Early Childhood Education, play-based education and are willing to work, grow, and play as a team with us.

Our teachers have some flexibility in choosing their hours ranging from core class time only (20-25 hours per week) to adding Enrichment classes and extra care hours (up to 40 hours per week). Yearly Contracts: Last week in August to last week in May. Teachers are given the option to work an additional 6-week summer program.

Substitute Teachers
Substitutes who can fill in for our teachers on an ongoing basis, and sometimes on short notice, are a vital part of our team.
Duties Include:

Standing in for our teaching staff on an as-needed basis; playing with the children and providing supervision and loving care.

$20/hourly for an on-call position
What We Are Looking For:

Experience working with children ages 2-5 and ECE credits. Prior classroom experience in a preschool classroom setting is preferred.

Flexibility, creativity and the ability to connect with young learners.

Positive, pleasant temperament and joy for playing with children.
Responsibilities
Teachers at the Lake School are responsible for preparing a safe, equitable, developmentally appropriate environment with enriching activities while developing nurturing and growth-producing relationships with their students. Teachers prepare weekly blogs for their class and twice yearly observation forms for each child, prepare a Back to School Night presentation, and twice yearly conferences for parents, attend monthly staff meetings and periodic in-servive trainings. Staff members are expected to contribute positively to the team, school and community.
Qualifications
An ideal candidate for an aide or teaching position at The Lake School would have a background in Early Childhood Education and experience in the field, knowledge of child-centered, play and project-based practices as well as a positive demeanor, joy for teaching and enthusiasm for learning. We appreciate applicants who bring personal interests and passions that can be shared with the children and staff to enrich the culture and curriculum.
Lead Teachers must have a minimum of 12 ECE credits. Aides must have a minimum of 6 ECE credits.

Compensation & Benefits
Teacher and Aide salaries are based on an hourly rate of pay between $16 and $28 an hour depending on personal levels of education and experience. Employees are offered a health insurance plan, dental stipend and sick days. Salaries include pay for holidays, class prep time, meeting times, and inservice days.
